Fred's agenda is simple: to represent his district with integrity and common sense. Fred's heart is in issues affecting the family and in encouraging new economic development in Alaska.
Fred has taken the lead in Juneau in issues related to children. As chair of the Children's Caucus, he has continued to raise awareness of the most difficult issues in the state, and push legislation to defend the most vulnerable in our society. Fred has authored legislation to aid law enforcement in the fight against child pornography and sex trafficking.
One of Fred's most significant accomplishments is a major re-write of the law that governs how Children in Need of Aid are handled by state agencies and defining parental rights for custody and care. These are tough issues, and Fred takes them very seriously. His extensive experiences with foster children motivate him to make good law the first time. Kids' futures are in the balance, and he knows a number of them by name.
