Children's Issues in Alaska
Some of the most pressing burdens we face as a state relate to protecting the most vulnerable among us. Alaska faces the struggle against sex trafficking, an international problem. We also face the struggle against the creation and distribution of child pornography on the internet. Alaska struggles with a high rate of sexual, physical, and substance abuse.
While these problems are daunting, Fred's approach has been bold and deliberate. Relying on the expertise of those in law enforcement, Fred's approach has granted law enforcement and prosecutors the tools necessary for effective prevention and enforcement. At the same time, he raises awareness in the legislature by bringing these troubling issues before the Children's Caucus. These last two years, Fred has served as chair of the Children's Caucus.
