Fred loves boats, all kinds of boats. He loves to work on boats, restore old boats, fix broken boats and live in just about anything that floats on water, or sits on jacks near the water, or smells of diesel fuel and seawater. Fred has recently been spending his free time (little that there is) converting his aluminum 32' Bristol Bay trawler over to a cruising/charter boat. He launched it this summer (2001) and it is currently wintering in Whitter.

Fred's has lived in Juneau aboard the classic motor yacht the MV Princeton Hall, a 65' cruising yacht. She was built of wood in Sitka, Alaska and was originally designed as a "mission boat" for the Presbyterian Church. She was christened the Princeton Hall and launched on December 1, 1941. Six days later the US Navy conscripted her. She was outfitted with a deck gun and assigned to patrol the Southeast Alaska straights against incursions by Japanese submarines. Amid the creaking timbers and faint odor of marine diesel, Fred feels right at home. next page
